New publication: Rudolf Metz's article in Politics, Religion & Ideology

Rudolf Metz's article with Veronika Kövesdi on political sectarianism is published in Politics, Religion & Ideology.

The article uses the Hungarian case to explore how a closed political belief system and community is created around a charismatic leader. Drawing on Max Weber's notion of political sect and Émile Durkheim's notion of modern cult, we explore the phenomenon along dimensions such as artificially created and maintained charisma, closed but voluntary community, monopolised rituals and controlled belief systems (propaganda, echo chambers).
